Star Wars: J.J. Abrams Loves Rian Johnson’s Episode 8 Script

Now credited by many Star Wars fans as the man who saved the franchise from resentment still lingering from the George Lucas’ "Star Wars" prequels released over a decade ago, writer/director J.J. Abrams is stoked for the direction that "The Force Awakens" sequel is going. Lifelong friend and actor Greg Grunberg revealed that Abrams’ reaction to Rian Johnson’s "Episode VIII" script was ecstatic. Abrams even said he regrets that he wishes he were directing it. "Star Wars: Episode VIII" was written and will be directed by Rian Johnson (known for films like "Looper" and "Brick"). While Abrams is not directing any "Star Wars" films, he will still be producing both "Episode VIII" and "Episode IX" and will be working closely with the writers and directors on both films. "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens" is now in theaters, followed by "Star Wars: Episode VIII" on May 26th, 2017. "Star Wars: Episode IX" is expected to reach theaters in 2019.
