Trump Signs Executive Order to Cut Down the Dodd-Frank Act


On Friday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to scale back the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial regulatory framework put in place by his predecessor as a direct response to the financial crisis. In a Friday press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer called the Dodd-Frank Act a "disastrous policy." The new administration is aiming for a broad range of financial reforms, ranging from back rules consumer protections.

    President Donald Trump has already signed an executive order aimed at "minimizing the economic burden" of Obamacare "pending repeal." This move comes just hours after he was sworn in to the highest office in the nation. The order states that "It is the policy of my Administration to seek the prompt repeal" of the law. It orders the Secretary of Health and Human Services and others to "exercise all authority and discretion available to them to waive, defer, grant exemptions from, or delay" any requirement of Obamacare that could impose a fiscal burden. Trump's chief of staff Reince Preibus also sent a memo ordering a freeze on some pending federal regulations, so Trump or others in the administration can review them.
