  • French PM To Announce 3 Month Suspension Of Tax Increase

    Reuters reports French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe plans to announce a three-month suspension of fuel-tax increases to allow time for discussions on the way forward, a senior member of the governing Republique En Marche party said on Tuesday. The decision is in response to nationwide ?yellow vest? protests against the carbon-tax increases, with the next one scheduled to kick in from January. The ruling party lawmaker said Philippe would also announce measures to soften planned increases in power and gas prices to lighten the burden on France?s squeezed middle-class households.

    The UK?s finance minister Rishi Sunak has announced an economic stimulus package to aid Britain?s post-coronavirus recovery. The measures include temporary changes to stamp duty, a large VAT cut, and a 2 billion pound scheme to make homes more energy efficient.     Au vu du niveau de taxation dans l'Hexagone, nous ne sommes pas loin d'être le pays qui taxe le plus les cigarettes. En effet, sur un paquet de tabac qui coûte 10 euros, 85% du prix part dans les caisses de l'État. Ce qui est trop élevé par rapport à la majorité de nos voisins européens avec la Belgique taxant à 78% et le Luxembourg à 69%. Cependant, nous ne sommes pas les champions, mais nous sommes sur le podium avec la Finlande et l'Estonie qui taxent les cigarettes plus que nous.
