Music show: Welsh musician Gruff Rhys on his new album inspired by a volcano


Cool Cymru artist Gruff Rhys rose to fame making psychedelic indie with Welsh band Super Furry Animals. FRANCE 24 spoke to him about his seventh solo album "Seeking New Gods", which was inspired by an active volcano on the Chinese-North Korean border, and some of his creative plans for the future and live shows. We also look at the test concerts and festivals that will be going on in France this week, as well as new releases by late rapper DMX, Mereba plus Angel Olsen & Sharon Van Etten.

    Quebec-based singer-songwriter Hubert Lenoir shot onto the scene with his debut solo album "Darlène", a glam rock psychedelic postmodern opera that was shortlisted for the 2018 Polaris Music Prize. He?s back with a very personal sophomore album entitled "PICTURA DE IPSE : Musique directe". This musical autobiography is a tribute to the "cinéma direct" movement, which started in Québec at the end of the 1950s.
