Kerry Washington Discusses Final Season of 'Scandal'


In a new interview with Screenrant over the weekend, actress Kerry Washington discussed the upcoming final season of her hit show 'Scandal'. Even though she couldn't reveal too much, Washington explained, "I know that our writers are going to go for broke. You know, we’ve been groundbreaking from the beginning and I’m sure we will be until the end." She then added, "I know that everybody’s excited to go big, and then go home, so people are really, really, really committed to making this season one of our best." 'Scandal‘s' final season, its seventh overall, is scheduled to premiere this fall on ABC.

    Olivia Pope will have handled all the "Scandal" she could after Season 7. ABC has announced that the Shonda Rhimes-produced political drama will end after next season. ABC president Channing Dungey said an episode count for the final season has not yet been decided. "Scandal" premiered in 2012 and was quick to gain a following that ate up its larger-than-life storytelling and the tumultuous romance at its center between Kerry Washington's Olivia and Tony Goldwyn's Fitzgerald Grant, whose character was for several seasons the President of the United States. The decision to end the series was made by Rhimes, and Dungey said it was a decision they "support wholeheartedly."
