Director Of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Says His Cut Is The Theatrical Cut

James Gunn, the writer and director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 says that the version of the film we saw in theaters was the director’s cut. Recently, some super hero films, including Batman v Superman, saw special director’s cut releases on home media. Those director's cut versions seemed to be more complete versions than the theatrical release. Gunn says, however, that what we saw in the theater is the version he wanted. In a recent Facebook Q&A, Gunn said "What you saw in the theater was a director's cut. Marvel never asked me to change anything."

  • Stan Lee Thanks Ryan Reynolds For Deadpool 2 Teaser Cameo

Heard I was cut from the theatrical print. Thanks to @VancityReynolds for saving me from obscurity #KingofCameos https://t.co/payTNKY40Y ? stan lee (@TheRealStanLee) March 4, 2017 Lee?s cameos are a bona fide Marvel tradition. James Gunn talked back in October 2016 about how he shot three bits with Lee ? based on his comments it would seem for Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming ? and a fourth was done by another director ? presumably Taika Waititi for Thor: Ragnarok ? meaning there are three more doses of Stan goodness still to come in 2017.

  • 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' Cut Scene Reveals Family Ties

Marvel fans unraveled a major Easter Egg in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 that could confirm two members of the team are actually siblings, and more compelling evidence has come to light since. One fan pointed out the mural of Ego, Star-Lord's father, who appeared to be with a woman who appeared to be of the same antennae'd species as Mantis, implicating the two Guardians are brother and sister. Actor Jennifer Sharp said last year that she filmed scenes as Mantis' mom in a post on social media.

  • Chris Pratt Reveals "Guardians" Scene He Didn't Want Cut

Chris Pratt revealed he liked a scene filmed for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" shortly after meeting Ego on his self-made planet, but the actor knows why the clip didn?t pan out. "Ego built the statue for us. It was essentially of Peter Quill as Star-Lord; he is larger than life and all the other Guardians are really, really small. Quill looks at it and says, 'It's perfect!' It's a fun, funny scene -- but then we developed the story and it didn't work." As fans will remember, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 housed scenes where Ego would conjure up statues to tell his life story to the gang. Pratt didn?t think Peter would be excited about meeting Ego at first, so the hero?s reaction to the statue wouldn?t be quite so enthusiastic. Oh, and you can bet Rocket had some choice words about the biased statue as well.
